People from all around Colorado, and even some from out of state were at Lincoln Park Sunday for a big tournament.

It wasn't track and field, disc golf, or softball, but the seventh annual Western Slope Pickleball Tournament. It's been going on all weekend, with more than 100 players competing in brackets organized by skill level.

Pickleball is best described as a combination of ping pong and tennis, and some folks at the tournament say it's getting pretty popular.

"I started playing here 10 years ago, when we had one court on one half of a tennis court and we had about 20 players, and today we have roughly 600 players in this area, so it's growing very fast,” said George Gerson, Director of Membership, Western Slope Pickleball Club.

If you want to learn to play pickleball, you can call Grand Junction Parks and Recreation to sign up for lessons. Their number is 970-254-3866. For more info about the rules of pickleball,
