There are plenty of challenges for seniors who battle blindness, but a local organization hopes to make things a little easier.

The Colorado Center For The Blind is training seniors in Grand Junction to help with mobility, non-visual cooking techniques and Braille instruction. The training will happen at the Colorado Center for Independence through Thursday.

"There's such a need for programs for blind seniors. We know there's a lot of people here that need good training, that's why it so important that happens," said Julie Deden, the Executive Director for the Colorado Center For The Blind.

Classes will continue Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Thursday morning, a family and friends session will be held so seniors can share what they've learned.
