Tilman “Tillie” Bishop dies

A major figure in the Grand Valley passed away Sunday. Tilman Bishop was 86.
Bishop served in the Colorado legislature for almost 30 years, he was a Mesa County Commissioner, and served on the Colorado Mesa University Board of Trustees.
Tilman “Tillie” Bishop was active in the community, regularly working with the Grand Junction Lions Club. The Western Colorado Community College campus is also named for Bishop.
Bishop was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship award during his time with Lion's Club, which is the highest award a Lion's Club member can receive.
