Things to keep in mind for the Grand Junction Air Show

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- For seven days straight, the Grand Valley has been celebrating Navy Week and the festivities will wrap up this weekend with the Grand Junction Air Show.

If you're heading out to the Air Show this weekend, you might want to take advantage of the free bus service that is being offered.

Services will be offered at:
• Mesa Mall, north side, by the Herberger's store location
• CMU parking lot, 12 Street at Mesa Avenue
• Grand Junction High School, north lot
• Clifton elementary, F Road and 5 Street in Clifton
• Peach Tree Shopping Center

Buses will start running around 8:30 a.m. from each location and run every 20 to 30 minutes until 1:00 p.m. Return trips from the airport will happen around 3:00 p.m.

Officials want to remind people to avoid the desert north of the airport as well.

A semi-trailer will be parked at the Air Show center to offer pilots a landmark to orient for distance and timing. For this reason, RVs or other high profile vehicles and tents, will not be allowed in the desert if they are determined to be potentially disorienting to a pilot's navigation.

There will be plenty to see and do at the airshow. Among the flying acts, there will be the Vampire Airshow, Golden Knights, and of course, the Blue Angels.

There is still plenty of time to purchase tickets. Gates open at 9:00 a.m. and the show starts at 10:00 a.m. both days.

To get tickets, you can go to www.gjairshow.com.
