GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- A Grand Junction taxi company is pushing to have an all electric fleet and they are looking to hire!
K2 Taxi has been in the Grand Valley since 2011 and half of their vehicles are now run purely on electricity.
The company says they're moving away from gas-powered vehicles, not just to keep the air clean, but they say they have saved hundreds of thousands of dollars in maintenance costs since they started using electric cars.
That savings are being used to offer benefits like health insurance and other perks for new employees.
"Basically it boils down to maintenance and the cost of power. If you can put 30 dollars-worth of gas in your car, and get 200 or 300 miles…I put 3 or 4 dollars-worth of electricity in an EV, and go 100 to 150," says Manager of K2 Taxi, Ryan Kohlman.
K2 Taxi has a hiring event coming up this Saturday, August 10th at 9 AM at Springhill Suites, at Main and 3rd.
