Student gets diploma decades after graduation

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- After several decades, a Mesa State College graduate is finally getting his diploma. He graduated back in the 80s.

Sean Harris never actually got his physical diploma in his hands.

He says the diploma was mailed to his home address, which was in Rawlins, Wyoming, back in 1987.

No one seems to know why it was held by the postal service, but it was recently returned to the school, now called Colorado Mesa University, obviously, on January 9, just last week.

Sean says he pursued a career as an actor right out of college, and didn’t give much thought to his lost diploma, until now.

“Since I didn’t go home, I never really thought about my diploma. It just never crossed my mind and you know, being an actor, they work thousands of different jobs and all these different jobs never asked me to see my diploma, and so I never really thought about it," said Mesa State College Graduate, Sean Harris.

CMU recruiting staff in California will deliver the diploma to Sean. He is now a photographer, after spending more than ten years with Morgan Stanley.
