GRAND JUNCTION,Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- State officials met at CMU to talk energy legislation specifically in the Western Slope.

Over 50 people including, Rep. Chris Hansen and other committee members heard from the local community about things relating to energy, including production , supply, storage, and distribution.

They say they met in Grand Junction because they wanted to focus on rural areas of Colorado, and problems and issues towns may face when it comes to energy.

"Energy is such a big part of the Western Slope economy, across all different parts of the energy sector, fossil fuels all the way to clean tech and so, I think we came out to Grand Junction today to make sure we understood what was happening at a local level,” says (D-Co) District 6 Rep. Chris Hansen.

After the meeting members on the committee toured the Ute Water Conservancy, and Basalt Vista Net-Zero.
