Police are investigating after a woman was found dead at her home in Montrose.
The Montrose County Coroner's Office identified the woman as 71-year-old Livase Persson. Her body was found on Oct. 27 on Sonoma Court in Montrose.
The Montrose Daily Press reports her son Karsten Richard Persson, 37, is being held on murder charges related to the case in Henry County, Ohio. He was reportedly already being held on a traffic complaint.
The Montrose Police Department did not specify why Karsten is considered a suspect. But the paper reports a detective from Montrose was sent to Ohio to serve a warrant to him.
The paper said police got a call from a friend who hadn't seen Persson for some time. That's when authorities made the tragic discovery. They say it's possible she had been dead for a few days.
"The cause of death was multiple craniocerebral injuries due to blunt force impacts from non-accidental trauma and the manner of death is certified as a homicide," county officials said in a press release on Wednesday.
