GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT/KKCO) -- Social media spurred the reunion of a wiley paint horse and his caring owner.
This is the very same equine escapee found hoofing it along Ouray Avenue in Grand Junction over the weekend.
“Somebody put a purse strap on him” Nadia Sweeten, the horse's owner says with a laugh.
She's happy to be reunited with Azul, her paint horse with one blue eye.
"He’s been going in the mountains with me since he was a colt. I know that if I ever get lost on the mountains I can jump right on him and he’d take me home," Sweeten said.
Azul is also a horse Houdini, engineering an escape from his pasture, by climbing through a water tank.
Then… he took a trip to town. “He slipped right out and went for a day hike!" Sweeten said.
Sweeten didn't even know her horse was loose, until he was spotted on social media.
A buddy of mine called me and said “Nadia! I saw your horse got loose, somebody’s got him, he’s on Facebook.”
Police apprehended Azul last Friday evening.
Nadia, glad to have him back, didn’t just load him into a horse trailer. The two finished their adventure with a several hour trail ride back to his, now more secure, pasture.
