GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT)-- Grand Valley middle schoolers competed in a scholastic tournament on Tuesday.
District 51 hosted their sixth annual Middle School Scholastica Tournament at the Bookcliff Activity Center. More than a hundred students played different games that tested their skills in math, language and critical thinking.
"It's always amazing, to me, to watch them be middle schoolers, be goofy, be running around and then the games start and they're pretty focused. They're pretty into what's going on," said Heather Baskin, Director of Gifted Education.
Baskin also said that it's not only a good event for students to practice their skills, but it also allows students to mix and mingle and make friends with kids from other schools.
