Shield 616 raising money to provide GJPD with body armour

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- One of Sunday’s Super Bowl ads featured a police officer from Arvada, Colorado, for Shield 616.

Shield 616 is a nonprofit that started in Colorado Springs that provides protective equipment for law enforcement agencies. The organization is trying to provide armor to Grand Junction police officers. They're asking businesses, churches and the community to help support Shield 616 for the police department.

Here's how you can help raise money for police gear, on Sunday, February 17 there will be a fundraiser at Orchard Mesa Lanes from 11 a.m. to 1 pm.

Then on Monday, February 18 Shield 616 will be at Red Robin from 4 to 8 p.m. They'll have information about the organization and the gear that they are trying to get the police department equipped with.
