FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) -- Officers with the Fruita Police Department are looking into several vehicle break-ins in the area.
Investigators said Monday that the break-ins happened between 9:00 p.m. Saturday and 4:00 a.m. Sunday. The theft-from-autos were believed to have occurred between in the area of the Comstock subdivision near 17 and K roads,
At least seven cars were broken into, police said. Only one had something stolen out of it--a gun.
"We would like to remind our citizens the greatest deterrent in preventing your vehicle from being broken into is to simply lock it up," Fruita Police Department said on their Facebook page. "Also, please remove any significant valuables from your vehicle (i.e., cash, cell phones, electronics, firearms, etc..) upon returning home for the evening."
