GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Part of a popular trail on the Colorado National Monument will be intermittently closed for maintenance this month.
A section of Liberty Cap will be closed next week, on Wednesday and Thursday, and again from November 13 to 15, while crews work on the trail. That’s according to a press release from the Monument.
The closure starts above the Liberty Cap rock, and continues to the junction of the upper Liberty Cap trail and the Ute Canyon/Liberty Cap connector trail.
The lower Liberty Cap trail and the Ute Canyon connector are still accessible from the Wildwood Trailhead, according to the press release.
Those with the Monument are also reminding hikers that the Corkscrew Trail is still closed after a large rockslide. They say staff is still checking out the damage, to see how much work is needed to re-open the trail.
