Saturday night officer-involved shooting under investigation

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The Grand Junction Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened a little before 7 p.m. on Saturday.

There was a heavy police presence in the area of Bunting Avenue and 29 ½ Road. That’s by the Mesa County Workforce Center.

According to police, sheriff's deputies showed up to a house on Bunting Avenue after reports of a suicidal man with a gun.

When they showed up, he had a shotgun. Deputies shot at the man and he was later found inside the home with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the police department. It's not clear yet whether or not law enforcement’s shots hit the man.

No one else was injured.
