GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT News)-- Sunday was the official welcome for Captains Joe and Amber West as the new Corps Officers of Grand Junction.

Their Divisional Headquarters decided that the Wests would be a good fit for the Grand Junction area. After years of ministry leadership, the Wests have now been Corps Officers for five years. Several members of the Salvation Army congregation were present at today's ceremony.

"What today is really about is moving forward with the mission of the army, which is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, and meet human need in his name," said Captain Joe West.

The Wests began their training at the Seattle White Center Corps. They just moved here after serving as Corps Officers in Roswell, New Mexico.

The Wests say they are excited to be in the Grand Valley and that they look forward to serving the community. They have already had an opportunity to speak with ministry staff and have toured the facilities that they will be serving.
