GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Residents in the Foresight Apartments in Grand Junction aren’t happy after their management decided to close the pool indefinitely.
The pool just opened for the season on Memorial Day at the apartments, which are on 25 1/2 Road, near Patterson Road.
Management sent out a flyer with pictures of cans and bottles that were found by the pool, which is against the rules.
"I feel sorry for the children,” said Savanna Moores, a resident in the apartment complex. "We all received notices on our doors the pool was going to close because a few people, we don't know if they're residents or not, but were caught with alcohol bottles up here."
Management sent out a warning notice on June 4 to the residents.
Four days later, they sent out another notice with pictures, saying the pool would be closing.
The decision to punish everyone for the actions of a few individuals didn't sit right with Moores.
"I think it's a failure on management's part to not have the proper security,” said Moores.
She’s not happy that residents are still footing the bill for the pool.
"It's included in our rent, so it's advertised as an amenity,” she said.
Kevin Tinsley, the general manager of the complex, said he's working on security. He's meeting with Grand Valley security on Wednesday to work out some details.
Tinsley said it’s going to cost him $10,000 to have it secured full time up until Labor Day. If he finds a reliable security guard, he said the pool could be back open on Friday by 3 p.m.
