High-speed database allows for more in-depth research

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -- The Mesa County Library is offering access to a powerful new database.

In a seminar Monday afternoon at the library, librarian Ike Rakiecki said the Reference U-S-A database allows users to explore topics on a deeper level.

"Someone can say I'm looking for restaurants or I'm looking for construction companies in Mesa County or Grand Junction, and it's going give them a detailed list of all those companies," said Rakiecki.

Rakiecki said the database also provides other details on the business, such as how much a business does in sales or how many employees a company has.

Catherine Melorango attended Monday’s event and was able to dive deep into marketing information on local companies.

“For me it's really valuable information to know how much money a business is spending on marketing per year and you can find that information from this database," said Melorango.

Anyone with a library card can access the site for free. Mesa County Library offers one-on-one appointments to teach people how to use the site. Reference U-S-A is also accessible from one’s home.
