GJPD: suicide in Grand Junction High School parking lot

Emergency crews responded to a suicide Wednesday in the Grand Junction High School parking lot.

The Mesa County Coroner's Office has positively identified the victim, and the with family's permission, has released his name -- Jose T Bueno, a 17-year-old resident of Grand Junction and a student at Grand Junction High School.

The coroner's office said the cause of death was gunshot wound of the head, and confirmed that the death was suicide.

District 51 said they are bringing in a support team of psychologists, counselors and student support personnel to provide counseling and support to students and staff. Counseling will continue to be available as long as needed.

All events and activities were cancelled for Wednesday night, but school resumed on Thursday.
