Sunday afternoon the Pine Tree Fire, south of Maybell, Colorado was mapped at 4,443 acres and was zero percent contained, officials said.

Aircraft dropped retardant multiples times on Sunday as well.

Monday the Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team took over command of the fire and will continue to work in coordination with other agencies, according to officials.

Crews will work to implement a containment strategy starting Monday and continuing over the following days, officials said.

Moffat County Road (CR) 57 is closed at its intersections with U.S. Highway 40 and State Route 64.

Officials say the cause of the fire that started on Saturday, September 9 was lightning.
