The Mesa County Coroner identified Roy Lyons, 66, of Palisade, as the man who was found dead in a truck in a canal in Fruita Thursday.
In a release Friday evening, the coroner said he was wearing a seatbelt, and was not intoxicated. Lyons had a significant medical history and was found to have heart disease during an autopsy, according to the release.
That explains why his truck left the road, the coroner said.
A person was found dead in an upside-down pickup truck in a canal in Fruita Thursday, according to Colorado State Patrol.
Just after 1 p.m. Thursday, CSP and the Lower Valley Fire Department were called to the canal at 19 Road, for a report of a vehicle in the water.
State patrol confirmed to our crews on scene a body was found in the truck. CSP is investigating the cause of the crash.
