One man dead after car goes off cliff at Colorado National Monument

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT)-- 21-year-old David Russell has been identified as the victim who was found dead after a car went off the side of a cliff at the Colorado National Monument.

His body was found on Oct. 18.

The Mesa County Coroner's released Russell's toxicology report, which showed alcohol in his system at .229%

He was an employee at Orchard Mesa Lanes. The bowling alley had a photo of him hanging up today reading “on the wings of an angel.”

It’s still not clear what exactly led up to Russell’s death.

Officials at the monument say they got a phone call Friday about a missing person and a car that went off the road near Cold Shivers Point.

The incident remains under investigation.
