GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- It's almost hard to believe we're in a drought.
This week, the Western Slope has seen a lot of rain. Sunday, Grand Junction received nearly a half of an inch of rain. And there was even more rain on Saturday. Grand Junction almost broke a rainfall record when the area received more than an inch of rain.
"During this week, just the first week of October, we've received over an inch of rain. One total amount of, let me see, 1.72 inches of rain just in the last seven days, and that's more rain than we've had in the previous five months," said Chris Cuoco, meteorologist for the National Weather Service.
Despite all the rain so far, the yearly totals for Grand Junction are still a bit behind. Fortunately, the rain is expected to continue through out the week.
