FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Officials are hoping to make tourists feel more welcome as they enter our state.
A brand new "Welcome to Colorful Colorado" sign now stands at the Colorado Welcome Center in Fruita.
The hope is that more drivers will stop at the welcome center in Fruita, instead of off the side of the interstate, where it can be dangerous.
"We're hoping that the location of this sign here will inspire a whole lot more travelers into Colorado, first of all, to get their picture taken with the sign, but most importantly, to find out some great travel inspiration to inform their travels throughout Colorado," said Director of Colorado Tourism Office, Cathy Ritter.
The tourism office says similar signs will go up in Burlington and Julesburg. Officials say 700,000 travelers a year come into the state between those two cities, and Fruita.
