New details in Collbran murder case

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The Mesa County Coroner's Office has identified the victim killed in Collbran on January 5th.

Her name is Janice Brown, a 58 year old woman who was living in Collbran.

Just before 8 pm on January 5th, Mesa County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call about a possible shooting on Glenarm Avenue in Collbran.

When they got there, they found Janice Brown, dead inside a trailer home.

The Mesa County Coroner says the cause of death was a shotgun wound to the head.

The suspect, Adam Boggie, fled the scene, and was arrested on I-70 a little over an hour later.

A neighbor told me Boggie had only lived in town for about seven months, but noticed he would act strangely outside of his house, possibly due to PTSD from military service.

"Its a shame, you know, because of the gal being in such poor health and stuff. I can't imagine, what she could have done to make the person so mad that he would have wanted to kill her," said Collbran resident, Virgil Delk.

Virgil says Janice possibly had some medical issues because she needed a walker, and rarely came out of her house.

Adam Boggie is currently at the Mesa County Jail, where he is being held on second degree murder charges.

It's unknown if Boggie had any connection or relationship with Janice Brown.
