GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Neighbors in a Montrose neighborhood are upset after the city announced a public hearing for a proposed RV park.
In a notice dated November 25th, the City of Montrose said they will hold a public hearing on December 11th to consider an RV park permit, that would bring in 32 RV sites to an area just northwest of Hillcrest Drive and Ridge Street, behind the Elks Lodge.
Some neighbors don't want this park to go in, claim some homeowners were kept in the dark, and have started a petition against it.
However, the city says they have followed their code.
"We mail letters to property owners within 150 feet of the property. The code requires 100 feet, but we go a little above and beyond to reach out a little more, so within 150 feet," said Montrose City Planner, Tallmadge Richmond.
The hearing will be at 5 PM on December 11th at the city council chambers at 107 S. Cascade Avenue in Montrose.
