Hundreds of books given away at mall

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Two organizations are teaming up and making sure kids have a chance to read some books.

United Way of Mesa County and EPIC, Executives Partnering to Invest in Children, teamed up to collect books through the month of April. Saturday they gave them away at The Mesa Mall.

"If you didn't read you wouldn't know how to spell stuff or signs, and if you didn't read a stop sign you would not stop and maybe get in a car accident. If a car was going, if you didn't check, so, it's important to read," said Kaylyn Willard, volunteer.

They had books for all ages, from children’s and baby’s books, to ones for adults.

Through the partnership, EPIC and United Way collected almost 700 books.
