GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- You may have noticed more kids than usual walking around town Wednesday, if so; it’s because of National Walk to School day.
Some students who may not normally walk to and from class got the opportunity to do so. There were several different groups walking in the valley.
We found some students walking at Orchard Avenue elementary Wednesday morning. They tell us they got to make new friends and got their day started with a little exercise.
“I loved it because I got exercise and it's good for you because it gets your brain ready,” said Avery Harper.
Blaze Legrand said walk to school day was good, “because instead of hanging with people I know I made new friends and new opportunities.”
There were several different starting points so kids could go together.
