MONTROSE, Colo. (KJCT News)-- Montrose residents will have a chance to provide feedback to the city's 2020 budget.
An open house is planned for Thursday.
What's new for the 2020 budget is how the money from recently passed Measure 2A will be spent.
It's money that will go towards public safety for the Montrose Police Department. The new sales tax increase will go towards hiring 14 new officers and a few more positions. It targeted $3 million to go towards the police department.
"Really kind of takes the police department into an intelligence led policing format which is more of a proactive way of law enforcement and that's where the police department wants to go into the future," says William Woody with the city of Montrose.
The open house will be at the City Council Chambers on 107 S. Cascade Ave. It starts at 4 pm with an overview of the budget. If you are unable to make it you can check out the proposed budget at CityofMontrose.org/budget.
