Montrose Commissioners seek input on barking dog ordinance

MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Commissioners say a lot of residents have come up to them complaining about barking dogs in Montrose County.

So, they're taking action with a possible ordinance and want your input.

They say it wouldn't apply to working farm dogs or hunting dogs with a hunting license.

It's still in the planning stages, but the ordinance could require two signed complaints prior to issuing a violation, and the reporting parties would need to testify at trial.

"So ultimately our elected officials are looking for your feedback, right now we have a poll open on Facebook and really it's just an opinion poll we would like to find out a good pulse on the community,” said Katie Yergensen a representative with Montrose County.

Fines would be upwards of $75. You can get to that poll by clicking on the link to the right of this article, or looking below.
