MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT News)-- On Tuesday, the Montrose City Council voted against the idea of constructing a new homeless shelter.
The application for the shelter had gone through the Montrose City Planning Commission, but was denied. The homeless shelter would have gone into the space at 931 North Park Avenue.
“It was based on the opposition of the neighbors of that property and it was at the recommendation of the planning commission that the city council deny that application,” said Public Information Officer for City of Montrose, William Woody.
The application would have rezoned the building from a light industrial to a commercial building in order to allow for the new homeless shelter in the neighborhood.
