Money and March Madness: What fans bet on the 'big dance'

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT/KKCO) -- The madness is coming to an end, March Madness that is.

The last college basketball game in “the big dance” is Monday night.

Americans spend twice as much wagering on March Madness than they do on the Superbowl.

According to Wallet Hub, the average bet on the NCAA tournament is between $20 to $50.

We talked to folks in the Grand Valley, to find out how much they bet, and lost when their bracket was busted. People around town lost anywhere from $40 to $100 betting this year, but most of them said, they’d do it again.

In 2018, Wallet Hub estimates more than 60 million tournament brackets were filled out.

Don’t worry if your hopes of building a perfect bracket were dashed this year, the chances of that happening are 1 in 9.2 quintillion.
