GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- New data shows people are hard at work this year in Mesa County.
Numbers from the state show the Unemployment rate for Mesa County hit 2.5% in September this year.
The workforce center locally says this was the lowest county rate since 1990, when the data was first collected.
Officials say a big factor is a growing labor force, and more people coming to the Grand Valley.
"We are seeing a lot more people and a lot more resumes with outside addresses on it. So, more people coming in, which is increasing that labor force, which is up over 78-thousand, which is about a six year high as well," said Workforce Center Director, Curtis Englehart.
We're told the numbers for October are not out yet, but its expected the unemployment rate will go up slightly the rest of the year.
