GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- It's open enrollment for most people, and that includes the jails. Monday, Mesa County approved another contract for health care services for inmates.
Commissioners approved a third contract with Correct Care Solutions, LLC. They provide medical, dental and mental health services for inmates at the Mesa County jail.
The contract costs taxpayers more than $2 million for coverage, which is up from last few years due to inflation. Correct Care Solutions asked for about $250,000 more this year.
According to a document on the Commissioner's agenda, Correct Care provides the jail with nearly 20 medical staff, including nurses and a dentist.
Correct Care sent us the following statement:
"For the past ten years, we have worked side-by-side with Mesa County to ensure that our patients get the care they need. Expanding access to mental health services will build on the strong foundation our doctors, nurses, clinicians and community partners have established. And we couldn’t be prouder to be part of this community."
