GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- They do a lot for our community, and earlier this week they were awarded a big ol' check.
Our local Meals on Wheels, formerly Gray Gourmet, was given more than $21,000 by the Giving Club of Grand Junction.
The Giving Club is a group of nearly 200 women dedicated to philanthropy in the Grand Valley. Meals on Wheels say they are always operating at a budget shortfall, so the money really helps feed more seniors.
“85 percent of the seniors who get their meal from us say its their main meal of the day so all those seniors that we serve over the course of the year, they’d go without,” said Amanda Debock, Meals on Wheels, Mesa County.
The past three recipients of their generosity have been hope west, hope of the grand valley and pro bono project.
