FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) There is an investigation underway into what led up to a deadly crash on Highway 6 & 50.
Colorado State Patrol and the Fruita Police Department report that the incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on Monday.
They say a car was traveling southbound on 19 Road.
As it continued on Highway 6 & 50 it hit a dead end barrier.
Law enforcement says that the car had severe damage from the impact and a man was ejected from the vehicle.
We’re told he died on the scene.
Another man who was in the vehicle at that time was taken to the hospital, but his condition has not been released.
Highway 6 & 50 was closed down in both directions between 19 ½ and 18 ½ Roads for several hours as police and fire personnel investigated the crash.
