Man arrested on Rodell Drive is Marine veteran

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Christopher Masten, the man arrested on Rodell Drive on the Redlands for firing weapons inside his home, has served three tours overseas with the Marines. Masten's girlfriend says he is no criminal.

Kristen Taylor says she lives with Christopher Masten, and says he's a veteran in every sense of the word.

She says he spent 14 years with the Marine Corps, and has had trouble re-adjusting to civilian life.

She says he was forced to retire for medical reasons.

Kristen mentioned they have had a hard time getting some of the medical resources Chris needs from the VA, and his arrest on January 4, could be a result of his time spent away from home.

"I just don't feel like it's a good representation of like, you know, who he really is. You know, as a person, he is very loving, and has a very soft heart, and he would go above and beyond for anybody. He really would," Taylor said.

Kristen said Christopher also has two sons, and has volunteered at assisted living facilities in the past.
