GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Deputies have found a man they think is part of a strange incident tied to District 51.
They say a student found a razor blade inside their backpack and want to know how it got there.
Two students were walking to school Wednesday, December 4th when a man approached them.
We're told he hit one of the student's backpacks, but that was it, and he continued to walk away.
A razor blade was later found in the student's backpack.
Later in the day, a school counselor was told what happened, and the mesa county sheriff's office got involved.
Deputies were able to identify and contact a man who might have been involved, but they still can't say for sure if he is who they are looking for.
"We're looking to talk to this person because we are working to determine if they are the source of this sharp object that was found in the student's backpack. We're still working to determine if a crime even occurred at this point," said spokesperson for the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, Megan Terlecky.
There have still been no arrests made in this case but the sheriff's office says this is an isolated incident.
The man's name has not been released.
