GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT News)-- Sunday morning, the U.S. Women's soccer team took home the 2019 World Cup title.

The U.S. defeated The Netherlands to win their second consecutive World Cup title, making it their fourth win overall. Several local fans headed over to a watch party at the Avalon Theater in Grand Junction. More than 200 people gathered to watch the women play the final match.

"We love showing sporting events, especially those that are nontraditional or held at off times because they are world events. So we hope that this will continue for years," said general manager of the event, Maria Rainsdon.

This is the first time that the World Cup watch party has been held at the Avalon since its renovation. All proceeds made at the concession stand will go towards the KFM Community Radio.
