GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)--- A large rock fell on I-70 Tuesday morning shutting down the westbound lane.
It happened between mile mark 42 and 43 at around 8:00 A.M. Colorado State Patrol says it was about the size of a tire. The westbound lane was closed until C-DOT crews cleared the road.
"Our rockfall mitigation team went out and the slope is stable. No further mitigation needs to be done," said Estacia Sellers, C-DOT Communications Manager.
Both lanes were back open shortly after. C-DOT says a rock fence is being put up along that section of highway.
