GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- At around 9 a.m. Saturday, Malcolm Martin, 25, who just days prior was arrested for shooting a man in the face, was captured trying to escape the Mesa County Detention Facility.

Martin climbed up into the crawl space above the ceiling tiles and proceeded to another part of the jail.

Detention deputies and the booking staff heard him in the ceiling, and captured Martin and helped him down.

Martin never escaped the secured facility, and the jail remains secured at this time.

Martin appeared in court last Wednesday and faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, vehicular eluding, non-injury child abuse, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving.

Martin is facing additional charges due to this latest incident.
