FRUITA, Colo. (KJCT/KKCO) -- In 2005, professional mountain biker Jen Zeuner opened a Fruita pizzeria with her partner, Anne Keller.
Now, the Hot Tomato is a thriving Western Slope hot spot.
“I had no idea when I look back 14 years ago," Zeuner said. "I was just a dirtbag mountain bike racer and I had no idea what I was going to do next. Now we’ve created this amazing place."
The restaurant has become a popular gathering place for the local cycling community and visiting outdoor enthusiasts.
When the filmmakers who created "Dam Nation," and "Red Gold," visited Fruita, they stopped at Hot Tomato.
After meeting Zeuner and Keller, they were inspired to make a film. A 12-minute movie titled, "The Life of Pie."
The film was sponsored by Patagonia, and the two business owners have now been featured in this month's outdoor gear catalog.
"I think if people can be inspired by that to do more cool things and really believe in themselves that anything is possible," Zeuner said, "That’s the greater cause I’m shooting for.”
The film will premiere on May 11 at the Civic Center in Fruita. Zeuner says folks from Patagonia and local trail advocates will be there to celebrate the premiere.
