MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- A horse facility in Weld County has tested positive for equine infectious anemia and some of the horses from that facility could be here in Mesa County.
The Colorado Department of Agriculture says there could be almost 200 horses that were exposed to EIA, and have since gone to different parts of the state.
If you purchased horses from Weld County between July 18 and August 20, the CDA asks that you give them a call at 303-869-9130.
EIA is a contagious and possibly deadly viral disease for horses. According to the USDA, there is no treatment for the virus.
