Home explosion in Mack caused by propane leak

MACK, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Some new details in the home explosion in Mack on April 21.

The Lower Valley Fire District says a propane leak caused the house to explode, however, it's still unknown where the leak came from inside the house, and the investigation could take several weeks.

We now know that the two people inside where an elderly married couple, and neighbors say the woman was flown to Denver for treatment for her burns.

Neighbors tell us the man was released from a hospital in Grand Junction, but went to Denver to get further treatment.

"They are very lucky that they have neighbors that came to their aid, prior to fire personnel arriving on scene. Had it not been for the neighbors and their efforts to get them out of the house, they would not be alive," said Captain Matt Catzenberger, from Lower Valley Fire District.

Early estimates are that the fire caused around $200,000 in damages.
