There's been a local surge in VA Loans over the last few years and it's expected to continue.
Veterans are taking advantage of the VA Loan Program in order to buy houses. There's been a 46 percent increase in veterans using those loans to buy houses in Grand Junction. VA Loans have no down payment and low interest rates. Service members and veterans can get one more than once.
"I think veterans in Grand Junction, and across the country, have really been turning to their hard-earned VA Home Loan benefit in waves since the housing crisis. This is a group that really believes in the power of home-ownership," said Chris Birk, Director of Education at Veterans United Home Loans.
The program is part of the GI Bill which was signed into place by President Roosevelt back in the 1940s.
