One of the state's largest labor unions withdrew from a contract extension Monday afternoon.

It involves grocery workers at King Soopers and City Market stores. Over 100 stores in Colorado are impacted.

The more than 12,000 workers are still on the job, but certain aspects of the parties collective bargaining agreements are no longer in effect. The two sides have been in talks since mid -December.

The union says the sides remain 'far apart' on several issues such as workplace safety, overtime and 'two-tier' benefit discrimination. Another bargaining session began Monday for the grocer and union.

The withdrawal does not impact Safeway and Albertsons stores in western Colorado.
