GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- A new festival is bringing Celtic heritage and fun to Grand Junction.

The first ever Grand Valley Scottish Games and the Celtic Festival is going on this weekend at the Mesa County Fairgrounds. Bands and singers from Scotland and other places of Celtic heritage came to town to entertain at the festival.

Others brought clans and banners, to help folks find their own heritage.

"We’re all here to teach people. If they don’t know who they belong to, we have books, that they belong to clan Campbell or clan Lamont, we can tell them, so they can get their journey started,” said Dan Lamont, Festival Chieftain.

Lamont came over from a festival in Utah, Scots on the Rocks, to help get this one going.

The festival continues all day on Sunday.
