GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Claudia Hazelhurst is retiring after working for the city for more than 40 years.

"It certainly wasn't hard to stay this long," said Claudia Hazelhurst, Grand Junction Human Resources Director.

She has worked for the city of Grand Junction for 44 years, which is one of the longest careers with the city. Claudia currently holds the title of Human Resources Director, but when she started back in 1975, she was a Personnel Aide.

"I had studied writing in college and I was originally hired to do some writing projects for the city. That transformed into a full-time position, not necessarily in writing, but in human resources. Now 44 years later I'm still doing writing, but a lot of other things too," said Hazelhurst.

Claudia will be retiring in April. She says she looks forward to spending some time with family.
