GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The 7th annual Grand Junction Pride Fest is underway.
Downtown businesses will get in on the fun from June 17 to June 23 by hosting dinners, movies and parties. One of the events will be a "Gayla" fashion show at First Congregational Church on Thursday. Members of the LGBTQ community will strut down the runway to raise money for local advocacy groups.
"People going to be walking the catwalk and basically looking for votes and there will be penny jars. The one that gets the most pennies gets the crown," said Carla Purculla, Gayla Fashion show organizer.
To close out the celebration, the Pride Parade will be held on Sunday on Main Street. The festivities are put on by Colorado West Pride, a local organization that promotes acceptance.
