GJFD rolls out shiny new brush truck

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) -- The Grand Junction Fire Department rolled out a shiny new brush truck Monday.

The truck will be stationed out of station six, that's the station that the department plans to break ground on this year thanks to the passing of a public safety tax.

It will give the department the opportunity to send firefighters around the nation to help fight fires, while also keeping an engine at home to protect Grand Junction residents.

"This gives us the ability to help our neighbors if our team is deployed somewhere else," Chief Ken Watkins with GJFD said.

The brush truck not only has the ability to go off road so that crews don't get stuck, but it also allows them to use water while they drive. You can't do that in a regular fire truck.
