Grand Junction Regional Airport is kicking off their flooring replacement project.

Crews will be replacing the current tiles with around ten different types of flooring.

Officials say the flooring was put in, in 1982 so they wanted to make sure it was stable as people walk throughout the airport.

As a part of this project, they will also be adding more power outlets that folks can use.

"We're replacing just shy of 30,000 square feet of the terminal flooring with modern flooring. The flooring's going to have some way-finding in it. It's going to encourage passengers to move in the areas that they need to move, it's going to encourage passengers to stand in the areas that they need to stand. So, we're really excited about that,” says Grand Junction Regional Airport Joseph Burtard.

The nearly one million dollar project is being paid for by fees the airport gets from parking and rental cars.
